Following are excerpts from my journal which I wrote in every day during my trip to Santa Monica to make another Subway Commercial (there are pictures following the journal entries):

Here I am again, in a hotel in California. I got a call about 2 weeks ago saying they are making another national commercial. This time it will be me, Sean, Jared and a few new people and they are calling the commercial "Subway Family Reunion." I can't believe it's all happening again. I'm almost more excited this time because I know how much fun it is. Also, I'm a lot less nervous because I know what to expect. I hope I hit it off with the new members as well as I did with the members of the first commercial.
My plane left at 6 a.m., so I had to get up at 2:30 a.m. and leave Springfield at 3:30 a.m. It was a great trip. The plane was great - it even had TV's and showed the movie "Men of Honor" which made the time go much quicker.
When we left Illinois, it was snowing!!! The weather here is very muggy. I arrived at 10:00 a.m. I have a fitting at 12:30, so I had a little time to unpack and relax.
It only took me about 1/2 hour in wardrobe. They chose my own short cut-offs, a tank top with a shirt over it and my own tennis shoes. I got to meet a few of the new people. Kenneth is around 59 and from Nashville, TN. He lost around 60 pounds. Myra is from Tallahasse, Florida and I don't know her weight loss or age yet. Ken is from Naples, Florida. He lost over 100 pounds. I haven't met the other two yet.
After wardrobe, I walked down to Third Street Promenade and did some shopping, then came back to the hotel and ate supper. I did run into Jared at wardrobe and got to talk to him for a few minutes. He is here with his mom. Jared called me later and asked me to go out to eat with him and his mom. We went to a chinese restaurant, and Jared graciously bought the meal. His mom, Adrian, is just delightful and I liked her instantly. After eating, they walked me back to my hotel (they stayed in a different one).
I'm pretty tired, but very excited, maybe a little nervous. I really want to do a good job, work hard and have fun!

Today I had a free day. I did a lot of walkiing. I walked on the walkway to the Santa Monica Pier. I could not believe all of the homeless people here - there are hundreds. The pier is like a big carnival - it was just like I imagined when I've seen it on TV.
Then tonight, Bridgette, one of the make-up ladies, came and touched up my hair. She is so sweet. She is from London, England and has a great accent.

This morning we had to leave at 5:45 a.m. I got to meet the other new people. Jackie is as cute as a button. She is 23 years old. Jason is such a cutie! He looks alot like Ricky Martin. He is 29. I'm not sure of their weight losses yet.
Our driver's name is Ted. He drove up to a beautiful park called Veteran's Memorial Park.
After a huge breakfast, we got ready in our dressing rooms and went to tape Scene 1. It was a big park scene with lots of extras. There's a big sign that says "Subway Family Reunion." They had people picnicing, throwing frisbees, walking, etc. They even had a couple of dog "extras"!
Scene 2 was Ken and me doing sort of a 3-legged race. We were in a pair of Jared's pants - Ken in one leg and me in the other. The very first take, they said, "Action" and Ken took off like a bullet. The problem was, I didn't. We both ended up falling - HARD! I hit my head pretty hard and was dizzy for a minute and thought I was going to black out. But after taking it easy for a minute, I was fine. We taped that scene for about 2 hours. By the time we were done, I was pretty dang sore, especially after the fall. We then got a break and they taped some of the other Friends of Jared having a piggy-back race.
Then we taped us all playing softball. I found out later that this was a separate commercial called "Softball". Boy was taping this fun!!! Every once in awhile, we'd forget we were taping and would really get into the "game". We weren't supposed to throw to first if anyone hit the ball because there were some quite expensive cameras at first, and occasionally someone would get excited and in the heat of the moment, throw to first. We didn't want to quit playing it was so much fun.
We finished up at 6pm. Boy what a long day. Some of the others went out, but I was exhausted and stayed in my room and zonked.

Well, I had another free day today because they were taping a commercial on the beach, which I'm not in. I'd planned on sightseeing all day, but when I woke up, I could not move. The big fall yesterday caused every bone in my body to hurt. I ended up staying in my room ALL DAY LONG, downing Advil for the pain.

We got picked up at 7:00 a.m. today and went back to the park. The only thing I had to do today was be in the group pictures. Our lunch was THE BEST though - we had crab legs, bbq chicken wings and all kinds of salads.
After lunch, we packed up and went to a Santa Monica Subway to shoot. I wasn't in any of the shots, so I got to go back to the hotel. I was STILL pretty sore, so I just took it easy.
Then tonight, we had the best time EVER. Me, Jared, Jason, Sean and a few of their friends ate at the neatest restaurant I have ever been to at Venice Beach. I don't even remember the name, but it was very Italian. At one point, the waiters passed out song sheets and the they led everyone in the restaurant in singing "That's A'more". Everyone, including the waiters, were swaying, with their wine glasses held in the air and clinking them together. It was such a blast!

This chapter now comes to end. Once again, I feel like I've made some life-long friends. It's a bittersweet ride home - I'm sad to be leaving my new friends but anxious to get home to my family. It has definitely been a trip that I will remember all of my life and I feel so blessed once again to get this wonderful opportunity.
